Vision of City Light
“To Illumine a new generation with the glory of Christ, so that we would illumine the City and the World for Christ.”
A City Community
Los Angeles can be perceived as a fragmented city. It's a sprawling city where hundreds of thousands of Angelenos travel great distances to and from work. As Downtown emerges as a residential hub, we envision a place where community can flourish. Downtown presents a unique opportunity where people can live, work and worship. At City Light we envision a non-commuter community where people can be connected together in rich urban fellowship. We desire to be a local community of worshippers that open up their lives and homes to each other in the presence of God.
A Gospel-Centered Community
The gospel frees us with the good news that God accepts us not because of what we have done but because of what Jesus has done for us. The gospel isn't about our goodness, but God's greatness. Our acceptance by God isn't achieved, it's freely received. We, therefore, welcome people of all backgrounds, histories and hurts into our community. We celebrate the goodness of our God and not the record of our achievements. Our entire ministry is a celebration of God's wonderful grace and acceptance in Jesus.
A Purposeful Community
Our community seeks to be one of purpose. God's grace empowers us to live selflessly and sacrificially for our neighbors, our city and our world. Our desire is to be a light to the darkest places of our city. We want to be a church that not only proclaims the goodness of God but demonstrates it in actions of mercy and justice. Our vision is not just for a great church but also for a great city.
