Good Friday Service Bulletin
April 7th
“The center of salvation is the Cross of Jesus, and the reason it is so easy to obtain salvation is because it cost God so much. The cross is the point where God and sinful man merge with a crash and the way to life is opened – but the crash is on the heart of God.”
Oswald Chambers
John 18, 19
LEADER
Come, let us gather again in the shadow of the Cross of Christ.
ALL
We gather to remember the overwhelming evidence of Love’s ultimate sacrifice.
LEADER
Who would have guessed that the height and depth, the length and width of God’s love might look like this: a forsaken savior on a cross?
ALL
Certainly not us. Not us, who are too often lost amid the world’s distractions and responsibilities. Not us, for whom such love was offered without cost.
LEADER
Let us gather again in the shadow of the Cross of Christ and commit ourselves to remember the price paid.
Let us live our lives in a way that indicates why this Friday is called “Good.”
ALL
Thanks be to God, who opened the gates of heaven, that we might have the faith, hope, and love, witnessed in Christ’s sacrifice for our salvation.
LEAD ME TO THE CROSS
Savior, I come. Quiet my soul. Remember
Redemption's hill, whereYour blood was spilled for my ransom.
Everything I once held dear, I count it all as loss.
Lead me to the cross where Your love poured out.
Bring me to my knees Lord,
I lay me down
Rid me of myself,
I belong to You.
Oh lead me,
lead me to the cross
You were as I, tempted and tried, hu - man.
The Word became flesh, bore my sin in death. Now You're ri - sen.
Everything I once held dear, I count it all as loss.
To Your he – a - rt.
To Your he – a - rt.
Lead me to Your he – a - rt.
Lead me to Your he – a - rt.
IN CHRIST ALONE
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this Solid Ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my all in all Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love, and righteousness scorned by the ones he came to save
Til on that cross, as Jesus died, The wrath of God, was satisfied
For every sin, on Him was laid, Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world in darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry, to final breath Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand
Til He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

CORPORATE PRAYER
Minister
Dear People of God: Our heavenly Father sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved; that all who believe in him might be delivered from the power of sin and death, and become heirs with him of everlasting life.
We pray, therefore, for people everywhere according to their needs.
Let us pray for the Holy Church of Christ
throughout the world;
For its unity in witness and service
For all pastors and other ministers
and the people whom they serve
For our leaders, and all the people of this church
For all Christians in this community
For those about to be baptized
That God will confirm his Church in faith, increase it in love, and preserve it in peace.
Silence
Almighty and Everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Let us pray for all nations and peoples of the earth, and for
those in authority among them;
For Joseph Biden, the President of the United States
For the Congress and the Supreme Court
For the Members and Representatives of the United Nations
For all who serve the common good
That by God's help they may seek justice and truth, and live in peace and concord.
Silence
Almighty God, kindle, we pray, in every heart the true love of peace, and guide with your wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility your dominion may increase, until the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us pray for all who suffer and are afflicted in body or in mind;
For the hungry and the homeless, the destitute
and the oppressed
For the sick, the wounded, and the crippled
For those in loneliness, fear, and anguish
For those who face temptation, doubt, and despair
For the sorrowful and bereaved
For prisoners and captives, and those in mortal danger
That God in his mercy will comfort and relieve them, and grant them the knowledge of his love, and stir up in us the will and patience to minister to their needs.
Silence
Gracious God, the comfort of all who sorrow, the strength of all who suffer: Let the cry of those in misery and need come to you, that they may find your mercy present with them in all their afflictions; and give us, we pray, the strength to serve them for the sake of him who suffered for us, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us pray for all who have not received the Gospel of Christ;
For those who have never heard the word of salvation
For those who have lost their faith
For those hardened by sin or indifference
For the contemptuous and the scornful
For those who are enemies of the cross of Christ and
persecutors of his disciples
For those who in the name of Christ have persecuted others
That God will open their hearts to the truth, and lead them to faith and obedience.

AMAZING GRACE
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
This grace that brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home
When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright, shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see
